Cycad Brewing

Little hole in the wall place run by self proclaimed geeks. Decent somewhat disco music playing. Apparently they have a DJ at some point. Only tried the pecan walnut pie but the barbecue sure smells good.

Wow, it's funny how different my experience was from Shigg's. I ran into one of the owners of Cycad at another brewery, decided to go because he suggested it, Shigg told me he obviously wasn't a fan.

Glad I went, though. I had some conversation with the staff, one of them had pretty good English. I shared some beer I brought from the PNW, they were excited and shared it with staff at the in-house BBQ kitchen. Brewer was in and came out to try the beer, he was pretty distant or unfriendly (but may not speak much English).

Generally was impressed with the beer I had there. Nice variety, I had a czech dark lager and a English bitter.

My experience was positive. Would recommend it.

One of the least friendly bars I've been to in Tokyo. I live locally and want to support. They've always been cold and unfriendly, despite my 15-20 appearances here. It's sad because their beer is good and their vibe is chill. I think they think their attitude of indifference is cool. It's not. It's bad service, especially for Japan standards (and yes, even for beer bars). Local bars here will learn your name, your favorite drink, and you. This place turns their nose up at me and acts like I'm lucky to be there each time I set foot in the door. It's sad.
