The tall mound of tan head looks like a scoop of chocolate ice cream before settling to a persistently creamy convex lump leaving fuzzy but minimal lacing on the glass. Under this feat of microbubble engineering lies a hazy dark brown lager.
Tobacco, cocoa and fall leaves are contrasted by a slightly tangy yeast that actually does--as the old lady pointed out--emulate a sort of minty quality. While very faint, it does somewhat detract from the overall result I was expecting, particularly after enjoying all their other stellar lagers, and especially since I adore a well-made dunkel. At the same time, the malt has a slightly smoky quality to it that is perhaps the cause of pulling that yeast tang into this unusual characteristic.
The silky medium body has a fluffy carbonation and finishes semi-dry.
