Not sure if this is going to be an anniversary beer. 750ml numbered bottle. Also available on-tap at the brewery. This barrel-aged stout has moderate whiskey character. Dark black in the glass with a small head that settles to a solid cap. Aroma of licorice, bourbon, vanilla, chocolate, roasted malt, and a wee bit of smoke. Most brewers nowadays go towards the sweeter end of the spectrum but nice to report that this is just slightly sweet. Moderate boozy whiskey and alcohol heat. Nice overall balance of malt flavors of roast, chocolate, and licorice with just a wisp of smoke. Big body and nice carbonation. Creamy feel that coats the palate. Did not expect a beer of this quality from this brewery. Glad it was $20 well spent.
