On draft at the source. My first beer from this brewery.

Appearance: Black body with brown cap. Creamy lacing sticks to the glass; you can see every sip on the side of the glass.

Smell: chocolate, roasty malt, and Port barrel with oak note.

Taste: Very similar to the nose. Chocolate base stout with a well balanced roasted malt. Finishes with the perfect amount of port barrel and oak influence. It does not overtake the base stout and really seems to enhance the beer significantly. Balance of flavors is perfectly done. No booze is tasted. Straight up delicious.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied stout. Carbonation levels are higher than most barrel aged stouts, but it actually works here. We will call it low end of medium carbonation levels. Creamy body. The combination of creamy body with higher carbonation levels makes this beer drink at half of it's ABV. No detectable booze at all. very easy drinking from the texture and balance of flavors.

Overall: Think of this stout as a casked stout aged in port barrels. This isn't your typical motor oil thick stout & that is part of what I like about it. It's different, but it's extremely well done! Great texture and complex flavor profile. Since it's not a big menacing stout you don't get palate fatigue with a large pour. You would not expect to see a port barrel aged stout of this caliber in a small town brewery. Highly impressed. High praise for this brewery as this is my first beer from them.
