straight up american lager, on the basic side of things but dine beer, maybe a little fuller bodied and less drinkable and crisp than the best beers in this space on the craft side, and as it warms there is the faintest metallic twinge, but thats being too critical, this is beer for drinking, and drink it does. i also think the little bit more substance makes sense in the context of the elite level bbq place they share a patio with, a lighter lager might be overwhelmed by this food, but this one holds up, so if that was intentional, way to go. good clarity, a light honey color, fizzy medium high white head from the tap. the aroma and flavor show pale barley malt, minimal hopping, and a tidy lagering that works this down close to dry, slightly floral as it warms and with slight aluminum there too, but good minerality and freshness, not adjuncty to me, and likely intended for the classic yellow beer drinker, and it works well for that guy or gal i suspect. thing is, they have so much cool beer here, we loved a pepper beer, a hearty hoppy red, and they had a fun range of imperial stouts on too, so this was a long way from the more exciting end of their beer menu, but its serviceable and more or less solid, a mindless crowd pleaser it seems, nothing wrong with that.
