Bursting with hop flavour of orange citrus and soft peach notes with undertones of lemon and lime citrus, this pale ale showcases all the hop flavour and aromas with low bitterness.

473 mL can from the LCBO; dated Sep 27 2021 and served slightly chilled.
Pours a hazy, translucent pale yellow colour, briefly capped with a finger of smooth, foamy white head that melts off within two minutes or so; a frothy collar of suds remains afterwards, but little else. Not much to gathered from the nose, either - hints of lemon rind, maybe a touch of stone fruit and graininess.
Not a bad light ale - citrusy at the forefront, with hints of lemon and lime soon giving way to a wheaty, grainy pale malt sweetness. Suggestions of apricot, maybe a hint of grassy hops, with some very low level bitterness rounding out the back end, which is relatively dry. Light in body, with average carbonation that lends some prickliness to this brew's otherwise soft, smooth texture. Very drinkable; I could've tossed this back in ten minutes flat, but I do hate to rush a review.
Final Grade: 3.61, a B grade. Back Trail would probably work just fine as an everyday quaffer: it's got decent flavours, excellent sessionability and low bitterness, all of which add up to a very crushable pale ale. OK, it's a little on the mundane side, but I wouldn't discourage others from giving it a try - I mean, there's nothing specifically wrong with it, beyond its forgettability. I'll make a mental note to revisit this one at a later date, ideally with a fresher sample, and see if my opinion improves any.

Very slightly hazed straw yellow. Short head to a full film, some early lace. Grassy hops, slightly dry bitter finish. Subdued nose, not getting much there. Medium bodied. Common stuff.
