This was the last beer in my most recent order from Tavour late last year as it took me a while to get around to it. Never had anything from Xul before as this was quite the first impression from them. Indeed, this felt like pie that was fermented as it was so easy to enjoy and not quite like anything I ever had before.
Pure blueberry was in the pour as this had the loveliest blue hue to it that was topped off with a fast-settling violet foam that left nothing behind and nothing to the imagination. No lacing could be seen either as this juice and wine aspect to this beer became more apparent once I started to take some sips. Loads of blueberry with hints of vanilla, graham cracker, and jam were in the nose as the taste was equally fruity, sticky, and earthy. Emphasis on "no lactose" here as this wasn't inherently sweet or cloying with the end result being a brew that was nicely slick and reminiscent of grape juice, minus the stickiness left on my teeth!
Canned on 12/12 of last year with "76 BRICKS" written underneath that, this was a fun beer that didn't need any overt sugar or sweetness in it to be enjoyable. It wasn't even that sour as indeed, it reminded me of a pie in a can. Enjoy this year-round while being entertained by the 50's-inspired label and the name of the brewery that like this concoction, wasn't quite like anything else out there!
