Imperial stout aged in 10yr Russell's Reserve barrels for 16 months then conditioned on an irresponsible amount of raw and toasted coconut.
As below so above and beyond I imagine
Drawn beyond the lines of reason
Push the envelope
Watch it bend...

Vintage 2025. 500ml bottle with dark royal blue wax.
This is my first bottle of barrel aged beer that I have gotten from Xul's barrel program to open up at home.
Appearance: Dark black motor oil body with minimal to no head. The beer has lots of coconut floaties that are present instead of the head on the beer.
Smell: Dark Chocolate brownies with vanilla coconut frosting.
Taste: Very chocolate forward. Big vanilla notes with an even bigger hit of coconut. A nice caramel note that emerges after the beer has warmed up /opened up a little bit. Rye whiskey in the finish that is well balanced with the base stout and the adjuncts. A little bit of rye whiskey and cola in the finish.
Mouthfeel: This is a pretty good mix between pastry and old school barrel aged stout. Absolutely no booze. Super smooth.
Overall: I get vibes of Half Acre Benthic minus the coffee. I think Xul made a really well done rye whiskey barrel aged coconut stout.
