Appearance: Had two fingers of head that retained well but produced no lace. The body shows next to no carbonation as it is a very pale yellow. Reminiscent of Corona clearly.
Smell: Slight smell of raw grain that Mexican lager tends to carry with straw and grass mixed in. The potency is quite low, but given the appearance I do feel it does show more here then expected.
Taste: Bright, raw grain and barley malt to star that leads more into straw and then grassy hops with a bit of a seltzer note. Very mild and begging for a lime.
Mouthfeel: It's kind of weird to get that seltzer end given the carbonation, but the aftertaste is mostly clean, save for a slight touch of mild mix that never gets out of control. That said, its so light so it's not exactly a journey.
Drinkability: Lightest of the light and a clear summer guzzler that nearly walks the line at being low carb to be honest. That said, it settles down remarkably well.
Final Thoughts: This is basically Corona with a bit more character. Now I'm not a fan of Corona and prefer my Mexican beer to have a bit more of that raw grain vibe and a bit more body but it's very clear they knew what they were going for with this one. Probably not a beer most BA's would enjoy.
