Appearance: On tap at the Williamsburg brewery. An odd dirty pale yellow color. Very cloudy to the point that you almost expect it to have pulp. Inch of white foam. Great lacing.
Aroma and Taste: Orange juice. Pineapple. Peach. Ripe mango. Tropical fruit rind. Bitterness is low as advertised but definitely not absent.
Feel: High carbonation. Thick, soft, juicy.
Overall: The beer is good, the color is odd. What're you gonna do, they focused on the important part.
Pairing: Happened to be eating loaded nachos at the time. It wasn't the ideal pairing for the food because of the bitterness and thickness of the beer, but the tropical fruit flavors added a fun twist to the Latin fare; sort of like a mango salsa.

Served on tap in a shaker pint at Beer Run.
A: Hazy yellow hue with short cap of off-white head with several bands of lacing.
S: Aroma is heavy with pineapple and stone fruit such as peach and mango. There are some dank, herbal undertones.
T: Flavor is more tame than the aroma and more peach, mango, and orange heavy than the aroma. Less tropical than the aroma but still plenty of pineapple and guava. Esters are present, but not overwhelming.
F: Mouth feel is soft and easy to drink with relatively low carbonation for style.
O: Solid hazy IPA with a heavier, stone, fruit influence than many.

Fluffy white head... Pale hazed lemony yellow... Rings of lacing cling to the glass... Cotrus forward nose with some faint candied sugar notes... Palate consistent with nose... Medium feel with lush pillowy tendencies... Nice all around and easy drinking...

A: Pours an opaque murky dark burnt golden honey in color with moderate amounts of fine active visible carbonation rising along the edges of the glass and moderate burnt orange + amber + dark golden yellow + bright yellow + bright orange + peach + apricot colored highlights. The beer has a three finger tall dense creamy sudsy foamy off-white head that slowly reduces to a couple of medium sized patches of thick film covering a little more than 15% of the surface of the beer each surrounded by a large patch of mottled thin film covering the remainder of the surface of the beer and a medium thick ring at the edges of the glass. Significant amounts of lacing are observed.
S: Slightly stronger than moderate aromas of juicy citrus/orange + citrus/orange zest + tropical/passionfruit hops over the top of light to moderate aromas of biscuit + pale + oat + wheat malts with a just shy of moderate amounts of sugary sweetness.
T: Upfront there are light to moderate flavors of biscuit + pale + oat + wheat malts with a just shy of moderate amounts of sugary sweetness. That is followed by slightly stronger than moderate flavors of juicy citrus/orange + citrus/orange zest + tropical/passionfruit hops which impart a light amount of bitterness which fades away fairly quickly leaving light to moderate lingering tropical + citrus hop flavors.
M: Just shy of medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Light to moderate amounts of creamy soft/fluffiness mid-body with a hint of dryness in the finish.
O: Easy to drink with well hidden alcohol and a decently creamy soft/fluffy mouthfeel with just a light amount of hop burn. Enjoyable with nice flavors and aromas from citrus/orange and tropical/passionfruit.

This beer was listed o Beer Advocate as from the Amber Ox Public House in Virginia but Amber Ox is now a brew pub and the Precarious Beer Project in Williamsburg VA is now the brewer of the beers listed as "Amber Ox". The 16 oz can I purchased at Chip's Beer and Wine in Kill Devil Hills NC shows Precarious Beer Project on the can. Poured into a pint glass, this beer features one of the oddest colors I have ever seen on a beer. One reviewer listed it as "light ghost beige". I see it as "cardboard box tan". In all, it is very hazy with this non-descript color. This beer has a big foamy head with good retention, fading to just a covering of the glass. There are thick bands of frothy lacing that cling to the pint glass. Aroma and flavor are both fairly mild, There is a moderate amount of mild orange and tropical fruit and the level of bitterness is very light. Aroma and flavor are pleasant enough, but nothing jumps out at you!!!! Mouthfeel is as much malty as it bitter, smooth and easy drinking. A fairly bland NE IPA.
