Appearance: On draft into a room temperature pint glass. To quote the person at the bar next to me, “Soooooo hazy!” With a bit of foreshadowing, it looked like fresh squeezed orange juice. 1.5cm of bleach-white foamy head that lingered for a while on the rim.

Aroma: Super heavy citrus, specifically orange juice with a bit of cream.

Taste: Good organic orange juice with no artificial sweeteners. Tangerine, grapefruit, a little bit of pith.

Feel: Medium carbonation which did not dissipate with time. The beer was thick yet crisp at the same time.

Overall: Even though it’s a relatively simple hazy IPA, it has a lot of single-track flavor upfront and in the aftertaste. It could use a little more depth though.

Pairing: It surprisingly paired well with pizza. Even though their was no pineapple taste in the beer, its sweetness offset the saltiness of the slice much like why some people enjoy pineapple on their pizza. The persistent carbonation cut through the greasy cheese nicely as well.

Good NE IPA. Bought a 16 oz can at Chip's Wine and Beer in Kill Devil Hills, NC. The can says this is part of the "Martial Arts Animal Series" like "Kung Fu Kittens" that I previously reviewed. This beer pours a very hazy dull straw yellow color with a huge frothy white head. Head retention is excellent and there are very thick frothy bands of lacing on the glass - a good looking beer. aroma is fairly mild, mostly a mix of tropical and citrus fruit. Taste is much more pronounced. It would be hard to categorize the hops as just piney or floral or citrus as there is somewhat of a mix here. the bitterness is fairly mild bot there are strong floral and fruity aspects to the flavor. Mouthfeel is slightly sweet as opposed to the "dank earthiness" found in most NE IPAs. Maybe a little caramel malt? In all, this is rich, fairly smooth, mildly bitter IPA. It goes down very easily. I would gladly drink this one again.
