My second "Cold IPA". I still wonder if this is going to be a style!!! The can says it is brewed with Pilsner Malt and lager yeast. The whole "Cold IPA" thing is that it is brewed at lower temperatures than most ales. In any case, this is a fairly tasty beer! Poured from a16 oz. can into a pint glass, this beer features a beautiful clear gold color and a small bubbly white head with about average retention. Patches of light lacing are formed on the glass. Aroma and taste feature some grapefruit, some pine and a decent amount of bitterness. Mouthfeel is light but crisp, with the bitterness featured. Goes down very easy. I had it with dinner and it paired up well with my lamb chops.

Wifey picked this up on her trip to VA, no can date
Pours a foamy bubbly 1.5 finger large bubble head with good retention, brilliantly clear light pale straw color
Nose brings big hops, loads of hop aroma, fresh wet hop with some dankness and pine notes, a bit of citrus zest, pith, orange marmalade with pine mixed in, soft lager notes
Taste brings more hops up front, dank mild resin, pine sap, hop oils, a bit of citrus zest orange marmalade, a bit of sweetness, light malt and soft lager-like character, light bitterness, dank but not overly, drier finish, med bitterness with more musty slight dank resin hops and orange zest
Mouth is med to lighter bod, soft lager-like, med frothy carb
Overall interesting, not a style I could really get into but interesting

On tap:
I found it interesting that this was served in a pilsner-style glass before I saw it was listed as a cold IPA. It is nicely clear, ignoring the chill-haze. My mind went straight to weed when I smelled my girlfriend’s pour. As a fan of old school, WC IPAs, it enticed me to get my own.
If I had to choose, I’d say it leans more starting-to-rot grapefruit pith than pine. Though I do think there’s some tropical fruit hiding pretty damn well. Maybe this thought comes through on my dios, because there’s a bit more tropical fruit rind than grapefruit, paired with spruce and pine bitterness.
This beer reminds me of brut IPAs, but with more body, while still being cleaner than a regular WCIPA. Given my enjoyment of lagers these days, this beer does a very good job bridging the gap between my different likes. I’ll probably be the outlier on the high end here, having it on tap and perhaps quite fresh (?).

From the pint can, it pours a clear light yellow golden color with a nice white head that slowly reduces. The nose gets pine, grapefruit and a bit of dank. The mouth gets a the same, although only a bit of dank.
