i was a little bit hoping for a crisp drinking yellow beer after a long day of travel and work when i popped in here, but i was also delighted by this, even though it was a little unexpected. done with wildflower honey and vanilla beans, sure its a little sweet and that limits drinkability, to a single pint for me, which is not what i generally want from a cream ale, but the flavors are natural and delicious, and this is solid overall. i can immediately tell its wildflower honey specifically, its springy and blossoming and highly floral and identifiable in the nose and taste, it calls up a little sweetness from the pale malt in here too, and it lightens this somehow at the same time, its a wonderfully natural flavor perfect for this time of year. the vanilla might be a tad overdone, it takes this into a bit of a desserty realm, and frankly id love to try the beer with just the honey. that said, it adds some cool complexity to this and is compatible with the wildflower honey all the way, just lingers a bit longer than i want it to and compromises the refreshment value of the base beer some. still, fresh flavors and clean beer overall, a fun take on an often neglected style, and a good introduction to this place, which was new and bright and nice, a recommended stop!
