No bottling date (released on 5/12/22, so presumably bottled within a few days of that date); consumed on 8/29/22
Pours a deep brownish black body capped with a finger and a half of rich, khaki-hued foam; solid head retention leaves a half-finger of creamy cap, a moderate, frothy collar, and minimal-no lacing holding to the walls of the glass.
Aromas of subtly rich peanut butter peak with a backing vanilla sensation as light chocolate meets a roast building over time and minerality cuts in throughout the bouquet.
Taste shows dusty mocha and creamy peanut butter upfront, while an ashy roast evolves over the mid-palate to a back end sporting a dry, malted char as wisps of chunky peanut butter meander through the finish.
Mouthfeel brings a dense, medium-full body and a fluffy, moderate carbonation, leaving slick, glossy textures easing to a slight warmth as minimal grit scrapes the palate; the finish is semi-sticky and lightly cloying.
Authentic yet passive peanut butter flavor slowly cedes attention to a moderate roast and awkward minerality, largely rescinding initial promise for a more baseline adjuncted stout, nicely balanced though lacking anything assertive or memorable.
