A Blend of Barrel Ages Barleywines 14.0% abv
Our most diverse blend yet, Forgotten Skies is composed of 3 main components; a 1.5 year old double barreled barleywine in Woodford Reserve and Makers Mark barrels, a 2 year old barleywine aged in a Willet Barrel and a 2.5 year old barleywine aged in a Heaven Hill barrel. A true representation of the beer and the barrel. Overall we wanted this beer to feel a bit more traditional and true to this beautifully classic style.

Poured at fridge temp. Pours a very dark brown with minimal head. The nose is definitely a bit boozy. Tons of bourbon coming through. Rich molasses, toffee, bread, vanilla, plums, and figs. Lovely.
The taste is rich toffee (maybe a bit salted), loads of bourbon barrels, ever so slight maple, slight vinous note, and oak. This one is quite boozy - it rivals Revolution barleywines (which happen to be around the same ABV). Really lovely and intense barleywine.
The mouthfeel is medium bodied and the aftertaste is bourbon, red grapes, and biscuits. Silky smooth. Lovely barleywine overall. What a sipper!

Sweet caramel-honey covered dark fruits and a vanilla-bourbon barrel nose on this one! Taste follows exactly with a touch more pronounced, bourbon barrel boozy heat on the palate. As it warms and opens up, a little more hoppy bitterness shows up on the finish...almost leans towards being an American Barleywine. It does have a velvety smooth mouthfeel...good stuff! If I had to rank the Wondrous Barrel-aged BWs, I would say...When the Poet Dies>Hope & Despair>Forgotten Skies. All very good!
