Crowler canned on 1/8/22; consumed on 1/15/22
Pours a turbid, glossy golden murk capped with a finger and a half of fluffy, white foam; solid head retention leaves a half-finger of creamy cap, a moderate, frothy collar, and layers of dense, webby lacing caked across the walls of the glass.
Aromas of tangerine zest and sweet mango sweep into dank resins eased by a passionfruit twang over the middle; grapefruit peel, guava, and hints of pineapple advance on the back end into a steady contrast of earthy and sweet notes.
Taste highlights grapefruit sporting wisps of raw hop grit upfront, slowly fading to passionfruit and nectarine over the mid-palate, while a lime twang offers a citric counterpoint to resinous orange pulp on the back end.
Mouthfeel brings a medium body with moderate carbonation, slick resins upfront wavering to creamy textures and an underlying grit over the mid-palate; a juicy back end elevates a clean finish, masking a mild bitterness that lingers slightly.
An intense and rounded tropical nose focuses resins toward a sweeter core, while the flavor profile veers toward a more casual acceptance of bitterness and underripe notes; solid in spots, but lacking the consistency for the upper-tier of NEIPA.
