473 mL can from the LCBO; dated Aug 23 2024 and served slightly chilled. Listed at 6.4%.
Pours a hazy goldenrod colour, topped with two fingers of creamy, foamy white head that lasts for five minutes or so. A glorious coat of messy lace is draped onto the glass, with a modest collar and filmy cap living on - looks great to me. Muddled aromas of grapefruit, orange, berries and mango, with hints of bready, wheaty malts.
It tastes fine - not particularly bitter, but it does come off as a little strong for 6.4%. I'm getting orange and mango for the most part, with hints of grapefruit, apricot and berries also coming through by mid-sip. Piney and dank on the back end, with earthy, resiny bitterness, grapefruit juice and tropical fruits lingering into a spicy aftertaste. Medium-full in body, with low carbonation that weakly agitates the palate; feels smooth and juicy on the tongue. Limited drinkability; one can is enough for me.
Final Grade: 3.6, a B grade. Tesla's Revenge is a decent hazy IPA - nothing more, nothing less. The finish and aftertaste are a little harsh - spicy and acidic, with some light hop burn and alcohol - interesting for a few sips, but increasingly tiresome thereafter. Worth taking a flyer on, but I don't think I'd buy this on a regular basis.
