Type: 16-oz. can

Glass: Pure Project 14-oz. snifter elemental (air) glass
Price: $29.00 for a 4-pack
From: Mcilhenney Brewing Company in Alpine, Calif.
Purchased: June 5, 2022
Consumed: June 5, 2022
Misc.: Canned on May 22, 2022
Grabbed a 4-pack of this and Wizard’s Wand after spending a few hours at Mcilhenney Brewing Company. Was really looking forward to this one for their 1-year anniversary, in my head hoping for something similar to Exponential Hoppiness. Hops on the can were Cryo Centennial, Cryo Simcoe, Chinook, Citra, New Zealand Cascade, Strata and Mosaic Leaf and “grains” were 2 Row, Carafoam, Maris Otter and White Wheat.
Poured a medium amber clear color with 2-to-3 fingers of rocky white head. Could see plenty of bubble streams creeping up along the sides of the glass at the same speed. Perfect spiderweb foamy lacing. World-class foamy retention. (Sight - 4.75)
Smelled fantastic from the first whiff. Out of the seven hops, could pick out in order Centennial, Simcoe, Cascade, Citra and Strata. Specifically could smell pine, dank weed, lime, onion, papaya, grapefruit peel, orange, tangerine and floral. No notice of the 11 pct. ABV on the nose. Just as good from the can. (Smell - 4.25)
Tasted even better than the nose. First thought was how smooth it was for 11 pct. ABV. For the seven mentioned hops, the ones I could pick out were Centennial, Simcoe, Cascade, Citra and Strata, like the nose. Got pine, dank weed, black pepper, lime, onion, garlic, papaya, grapefruit peel, orange, tangerine, papaya, chewy caramel, bitter wood and floral. (Taste - 4.50)
Medium body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Long, smooth finish. So damn amazingly smooth for 11 pct. ABV. (Feel - 5.00)
Damn, just incredible. Coming out for me much higher than Exponential Hoppiness but looking back not sure I’d change any rating. Just a world-class West Coast Triple IPA. (Overall - 4.50)

16oz. can into a Fuzzy pint.
Pours a light copper with a 0.5 finger foamy white head with great retention. Stringy, spotty lace. Great clarity. Nose is soap, apricot and honey. Rather mellow. Beer opens dried tea leaves, brown sugar, sap, and bark. Overused cinnamon bark in the middle with more dried leaves towards the end. Like an overly sweet feeling of Autumn. Bone dry finish. Body is medium with moderate to ample carbonation. Foamy in the mouth and dry going down with a lingering, sticky aftertaste.
This is the weakest of the offerings I've had from Mcilhenney so far. Just a bit too sweet and one-dimensional here. The body also begs for a bit more life.

Thanks, Shane!
A clear orange with a dense white head with good retention and lacing. The nose is pure dankness. Pine, onion, citrus, candied citrus, weed, pineapple and some BO. No alcohol whatsoever. Just riotous hops a la 2010. The palate opens bitter and clean, with shockingly little alcohol. Bitter, dank, pine and citrus , with bitter orange peel, candied orange, mildly floral honey, a little melon. The mid-palate has plenty of dank hop flavors. Smooth, creamy palate with alcohol ridiculously well hidden. This is absurd.
