just absolutely fabulous here, i liked both of the red wine grape editions even better than the white wine one they had when we visited. generous pours on these, had no idea they were so strong, got totally messed up here, but no regrets, these are some of the most dynamic beers ive had all year. this doesnt have much head no it, a deep blood red to purple jewel tone to it, and frankly it just looks like wine. the nose is awesome though, oak and funk, mild acidity, a ton of grape tannins, grape candy, light vanilla, cranberry, black cherry, and port wine, wow. the body is full and slow moving, but more from fruit than from grain, and it feels hefty without being malty or sugary to me, and the alcohol isnt really very evident until its all the way up to room temperature. its got big earthy wetness to it, juicy dark grape, identifiable to me as cab franc, which is impressive, and with the subtle but distinctive funky yeast profile, this ends up drinking like high end pet nat wine. palate coating, jammy and concentrated grape, warming oak, tangy bacterial element helping the finish be drier, and increasing my body temperature from the inside out. this is sensual, erotic even, massive but well refined, and was second only to the petit verdot edition of this when we were in. what a cool series of beer this is, the bottles look super cool too, now i am wishing i had picked a couple up! do not miss these while they are on offer here!
