a neat fruited pale ale with blueberry, tons of it, and el dorado hops apparently, a nice combination, sort of smoothie-esque, loaded with fruit and i think not fermented out, so its fruit before hops, but it reads as genuine and its delicious, one of my favorites from our visit to this rad little spot. deep crayon purple color on this, a little hazy but not messy, more purple than red wine, light pink stained white head, a little more lathery than on a lot of their other beers. lovely nose, tannic and tangy from the fruit as well as sweet, ripe cantaloupe from the hops, very little bitterness. still some grain coming through, lightly bready to me, keeps it beery, and its crazy how much they seem to have packed into a beer so low in alcohol. the flavor is great, really berry forward, obviously blueberries but i do get a black cherry and a port wine note out of them too, nice that its not all sugar, some tang too almost seems lightly kettle soured but its all from the fruit, makes it refreshing for a thicker feeling beer. the hops are idea with this fruit, they come across pretty unique, low bitterness, but they add a lot, just great with the berries. the base beer is still identifiable as a pale too, which i think counts for a lot. refreshing in a unique way, and i think this is a line of thinking that could take other cool forms, strawberries with barbe rouge hops, meyer lemons with krush, that sort of thing. very modern in the glass, liked it a lot!
