A delicate Pilsner glass from Simpli hosts this gem clear, bright copper beer with rich amber highlights (13-15). Two inches of dense antique-white foam slowly settles to form a quarter inch blanket and a filigree of lacing above. Fine carbonation races upwards for the duration.
The aroma is dusty with toasted malt. Earthy herbs and grains follow as it warms.
Caramel malt and musty flavors lend to a modest bitterness and crisp, mild sweetness. The finish is modest and dry. Grains and water crackers are throughout.
The thin body and coarse satin texture allows the alcohol to be more expressive than expected, yet still modest. It has a soft carbonation, which is surprising, given the appearance.
This is a great easy drinking beer that one could enjoy for several rounds during a long afternoon. Probably best with friends and casual conversation.
