A caramel,amber appearance
Just below average carbonation with an above average body that has a thick syrupy feel
Aroma is toffee, caramel, malt, slightly boozy
..taste is a really strong mix of toffee, buttery caramel, rich malt, and what comes off like chocolate covered fruit.
...overall this is such a strongly, deep flavored beer that I've had in quite some time.

Appearance: Arrives tea colored with a one finger ecru head; decent retention with clumps of lacing
Smell: Toffe, hazelnut and stone fruit aromatics
Tste: Stone fruit and toffee forward with the hazelnut and earthy bitterness developing, in the middle; a slight hint of chocolate, in the finish
Mouthfeel: Full bodied with moderate carbonation
Overall: A nice English barleywine though there really isn't much impact from the cacao

Poured from a 12oz can with an illegible date to a semi-tulip glass at fridge temp, but allowed to warm.
The body is brown with a red tint, quite clear, but the deep color stops quite a bit of light. A minimal off-white head sits above and fades to a ring.
There is quite a strong cocoa, hazelnut and coconut aroma, just like the writing on the can suggests. But it is distinctly not like an Almond Joy bar (no sense of cheap fructose). It is slightly medicinal though.
The taste is similar up front, but quickly the alcohol makes itself known, then fades away leaving mostly a cacao feel and a super sweet finish. And there is malt throughout. All of the previous is at level 11.
The mouthfeel is medium, but sticky.
A heavy duty beer for sure.

Clear amber pour and body in the glass; excellent slow-rising carbonation; thick, frothy, off-white head. Toasted caramel nose; roasted nuts; subtle earthy spiciness. The taste amps up the smell qualities; richer sweetness and nuttiness; moderate underlying bitterness. Heavy body; dense and sticky on the palate; warm.
This is one of the more unique barleywines that I've had in a while. I love that there is no barrel-aging involved. I believe its the use of hazelnuts that give this particular beer a rather distinct flavor and scent. It certainly fits the bill for a stupendous seasonal beer beer. Just awesome!

Pours mild brown translucent, thin soap layer that disappear quickly. My wife says it smells like maple syrup varnish but indeed its aroma is big hazelnut aroma and taste. Very sweet smacky with warm alcohol seeping in. Pretty good for a style that leaves me feeling like an amateur!
