a somewhat generic but well enough executed oktoberfest lager here, still very much in season for my tastes, especially with the mild autumn we have been having so far. this is nice and clear, rusty orange colored, with an average just off white head from the tap at the source, looks right on in the glass. the nose is ever so slightly astringent on the ferment to me, but its not too big of a distracting, the lager yeast is still bready and classically german, if a little subdued, and the grain is rich without being heavy, toasted and warming while staying kind of middle of the road in terms of depth, not a ton of nuance, but i dont miss it. the flavor is solid, the water chemistry seems right, its drier than a lot of these are without being too minimal in structure. its got a little bit of a bittering hop finish, a european flare to the malt, and a slightly nutty center. nothing radical about this, but its true to style and is a nice effort overall. i think the ferment could use just a little cleaning up, maybe more lagering time, but its close. cold have had several of these.
