really good, done in collaboration with quirk, this is the best big house beer i had while i was in town. its a little lighter in color than a lot of these, still brown, but without the density, still some brassy shine behind it, light coming in, airy wispy head from the tap, not frothy german looking, but still lively and appealing. it smells and tastes about the same, robust german lager yeast under close to ideal conditions to me, bready and old worldy, as important here as the grains, which are nutty and rustic, only a little sweet but still with nice caramelized flavor, and a breadiness of their own, this checks pretty much all the boxes for the style, and at this abv somehow still is one of the more drinkable examples of the style i have had in awhile. they got the lagering right, and the overall lightness that this still has is awesome. its smooth and its wintery but in its own unique way, and i like the texture as much as the flavor. if you like well done german stuff, you would do well to track this one down. an impressive offering.
