sometimes it works when wet hops are used in things other than pale beers, but i dont love this one, an amber ale base, and a pretty sturdy, sweet, and richly malty one at that, and while the hops appear well dosed, they are subservient to the grain in this, not often what i am seeking in the style, a weird choice for the wet hops, why not showcase them a little cleaner? in any event, im sure the base amber is fine, to me its both slightly sweeter than i want a second one of, and a little less clean than it could be on the ferment, short of tangy or anything, but there is a bit if a late zizzle to it. not bad though, and what the hops do bring is nice, pine and bitter citrus to me, needed for balance, but with the oils they bring, it heavies the beer up even further. a splash of pink grapefruit and pith, a little clementine too, not totally opposed to this yeast weirdness, but there is also a little fade on this, obviously we are late in the wet hop season now, and perhaps this has come down some. maybe brighter when it was newer, still decent, but this was my least favorite of the three big house beers i got to drink on last week while i was up there. if you like a fairly hoppy amber give this a go, but as a wet hop its not quite there for me at this point...
