Hofmühl Volksfestbier is a seasonal specialty. Brewed in classic festival beer strength with over 13% original wort, it delights our fans from August to October. And, of course, it's freshly tapped at the Eichstätt Volksfest in early September!

Midway between Bavaria's two largest cities, Hofmuhl in the small town of Eichstadt seeks to get its share of the O-Fest & Festbier season with this Volksfestbier... the people's beer fest. And this is a good thing as O-fest was started as a fun way to fund the coffers of Bavarian royalty (and avoid the bad image of taxing the poor.) So IMHO, I'm glad to promote this sharing of the season among the people. Prost !
Volksfestbier Looks like a nice marzen, more amber than the Festbier; although this one could have a more lasting foam. Smells are slightly above average, mostly malt in a malty style. Tastes are mostly classic; with the sweet malt in the attack with hops introduced in mid-palate and then creating the long-lasting semi-dry finish. There I detect a quasi-metallic something that is worth noting and working on. Medium-mouthed in a smooth lager style.
As for my very good Overall Hugs, this is for Hofmuhl for bucking the Bavarian Prince's Autumnal tradition and calling it their own for their people. While I'd like Hofmuhl to have an English translation button that might inform me more so I don't go off the handle about the Bavarian royal house, I still give them very good Overall Hugs until someone proves me wrong.
