The magic of the Crick is not to be understated. It’s all things at once- breathable, feelable, smellable and even swimable. It’s also something that shouldn’t be overindulged in.
Pours cloudy with huge waves of tropical aromatics and delivers light notes of mango, touches of ripe tangerine and just the faintest hint of crick across the palate.

473 mL can from the LCBO; dated Jul 7 2021 and served barely chilled.
Pours a clear golden-yellow colour, producing nearly an inch of foamy, rocky white head that disintegrates within three or four minutes' time. It leaves behind a generous collar of soapy suds around a filmy cap, with a fair bit of messy lacing also flung about in the process - looks pretty good to me. Hints of melon and apricot on the nose, with suggestions of citrus, bready malts and floral, pithy hops - all of it is very subdued, and it doesn't open up much as the glass warms either.
A quaffable little IPA with a nice range & balance of flavours - bready, wheaty palt malts and some light honey sweetness in the background, with stone fruit, cantaloupe and orange coming through by mid-sip. A little more resiny and earthy at the finish, with honeyed malt sweetness and a touch of ethanol lingering into a mildly fruity, bready aftertaste. Medium-full in body, with moderate carbonation that contributes to its crisp, smooth mouthfeel. This is a pretty generic pale ale IMO, but it is an exceedingly drinkable one, in spite of its 6.6%.
Final Grade: 3.61, a B grade. Blackburn's Crick Water ain't bad at all for what appears to be one of their first LCBO releases - or at least, the first that I've seen. Calling it a 'great' or even just a memorable IPA is a stretch, but it's a plenty respectable effort that I found real easy to toss back. Nothing earth shattering, but I'll return to it again at some point, and would encourage other hopheads to give it a shot.

Review from notes. 473 ml can served cold into a pint glass.
Appearance - Fairly clear golden color with some slightly darker amber hues. A finger plus of short live doff white head but a nice array of lacing in the glass.
Smell - Muted citrus, some grapefruit and orange with a slight mustiness and slight tea aroma as well.
Taste - Moderately bitter but thin flavor of grapefruit, orange and again strangely hoppy tea water came to mind. Decently tasty, but an odd way to describe it.
Mouthfeel - Medium bodied, a little light on carbonation.
Overall - A passable IPA, but certainly below the standard set in this locale. The tea-like aspect gives a slightly English IPA like feel, but the grapefruit is a different story. Lacking intensity compared to other local beers.
