Had a pint at the brewpub. Poured a medium amber with a white head that left remnants all te way to the end - very nice. Aroma of smoke and malt, slightly bandaid-like esters?

Very well balanced. A tasty beechwood smokiness is persistent yet restrained throughout the sip. It starts out paired with a subtly fruity maltiness, then finishes with a combination of smokiness, maltiness, and Willamette hop spice that is very, very appetizing. The finish is what really makes this beer. Slightly thin, but OK for the style. Not so highly smoked that you couldn't have three or four.

Not as smoky as, say, Schlenkerla, but a very nice, balanced effort from a brewpub that has a history of making very well-crafted smoked beers. Unfortunately, the brewer said that they probably wouldn't be reviving their over-the-top smoked bock anytime soon.

First smoked lager ever, and I don' t Think I've made up my mind yet.

amber appearance with very small head. As it dropped down the glass it left a moderate lacing.

Aroma was of smoked sausage, and a touch of hops.

Flavor was at first very very smokey. Followed by a kind of mellow amber malt flavor. Once I got past the smoke it was very reminiscent of an amber lager. Finish was clean with some dry
hops. Up fron though, the beer was very, very oily.

Smooth, perhaps a bit watery though. Solid beer, and an interesting style.

about a fall back we had drank them dry of thier smoked beer...and we were quite happy to find that they were now doing a rauchbier....this poured a medium light brown a tad bit darker than the lighter smoked lager....it had a tiny thin head and a nice nose full of smokey camp fire and malt....it wasn't as smokey flavored as the smoked lager they did last year but it was definitely flavorful with a nice bite and overall i think the drinkability is much better. they really do a good job at smoked beers for a small brewery...a real hearty smoke flavor that isn't forced, medicinal, or like they poured liquid smoke into the batch which you can get from smaller brew pubs...it's just smokey-licious and good!
