Appearance is straight mahogany with a puffy tan head that quickly settles to a thin film and bubbly collar leaving stalactite curtains.
This one's hard to nail down. A little herbal and tangy, cola comes to mind even though it avoids that full on translation. Still, it's more earthy, yet brighter than you expect a stout to be. It's also got a tobacco leaf characteristic paired with a touch of acid that's not as though spiced, but brings cider to mind. Simultaneously, it's satisfyingly savory, with a touch of smoky roast and toasty cacao.
The medium-light body has a fine crackly carbonation coming to a just barely dry finish revealing no heat from the high ABV at all, but still feeling slightly chewy on the palate.
