Rich in sweet malt flavor and finishing with a warming alcohol presence. In a nod to traditional brewing practice we went with a simple malt bill of Maris Otter and roast for color relying on a complex, extended boiling process to produce the styles classic caramel notes.

This was great. Exceeded expectations. Classic look reddish brown. Smell is malty and sweet and there is sweetness on the palate but it is appropriate. Not overly sweet. Very boozy, earthy, plenty of caramel with a nice medium heavy mouthfeel. Uncanny smoothness. Can and will drink again. Looking forward to more from Codex.

From the 16 oz can via the brewery! This excellent little wee heavy pours a
medium deep amber with a moderate head of white foam that settles to a thin
ring, thin dusty layer, and sports some subtle lacing. Nose of toasted malts, dark
brown sugars, light peach, and breaded malts. Flavors hit the mark with light peach
nuances drenched in brown sugars, dark breaded malts, deep roast, and dark tea
hints. Mouth feel is medium, light carbonation, smooth, and finishing appropriately
sweet and nicely rounded.
Overall, a great little brew from a great brewer!
Cheers

16 ounce can, canned on 10/4/2024, thanks to Brutaltruth for picking this up on a recent trip to the brewery! Served in a thistle glass, the beer pours a somewhat clear orange/amber color with maybe a half inch light tan head that didn't stick around for too long. There's a decent amount of lacing. I like the aroma, the brew smells mostly like caramel and bready malt, along with some black tea and herbalness. Taste is similar to the aroma, but there's also some smokiness noticeable too. Mouthfeel/body is medium/full, it's a bit coating and has a moderate amount of carbonation. I thought this was a good overall brew, worth trying if you get the chance!
