Poured from 500mL bottle into my 8th Wonder chalice. No date on the bottle, but I did buy it just last week at the brewery itself.
Appearance: rich amber hue with a moderate haze and a big, 2-finger head of frothy ivory foam with a little bit of an amber/orange cast to it.
Smell: sweet malt with earthy, piney, and lemony hop notes. Kind of a more old-school DIPA, in my opinion.
Taste: malt is caramelly and sweet, and the hop character is piney and lemony. There's a relatively high bitterness as well; this is right down the middle of a classic early 2000s DIPA or American Strong Ale. Not bad, but not particularly revelatory.
Mouthfeel: medium-rich body with a decent carbonation and a good smoothness thanks to all that malt.
Overall: not too bad overall, but it's a bit sweet for me and, again, there's not a ton of novelty here.
