16oz crowler from brewery. Clear golden pour, flat. Gentle aroma of peppers, peppers in the taste are also very subtle. Bite increases at the end. Not all that hot.

a simple pale blonde type base beer here spiked with jalapeno, i am always a little cautious with this style, a love it or hate it thing, but they did a decent job with this, at least with the pepper part, but their beers were pretty amateur in terms of quality across the board. i was thankful for the pepper making a lackluster base beer interesting, and the pepper character is real, much like the cucumber is in their kolsch, and it works to kind of cover up some of the obvious fermentation issues they are having, which were so exposed in their dry hopped lager, this has some of the same weirdness and off flavors in the finish, but its less for sure, and a lot of it is masked, so that when this is good and cold from the tap, i dont taste too much of it. it smells like its going to be fiery from the jalapeno, fresh and green and pretty bold, but the heat is really restrained when i drink it, mostly just a little back of throat warmness going down, but a lot of the pepper flavor on the tongue, just enough malt behind it too, this has some balance and i just with the fermentation was cleaner because this has potential. i could see it working great as a red beer or even as a sidecar for a bloody mary, the pepper is natural enough to make me want it that way. hoping for some quality improvements here between now and my next visit, they have some solid ideas on the board but none of the beer quite hits at a professional level yet...
