Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a medium golden amber with a three finger white head with great retention and nice lacing. Aroma of caramel malt, citrus and dank hops, orange, mixed light stone fruit and some catty dankness. Flavor follows with caramel malt, citrus and dank hops, orange, lemon, grapefruit, mixed light stone fruit leaning to apricot, catty dankness and a little pine. Solid citrus rind bitterness in the finish. Medium bodied with moderate creaminess, nice mouth feel. Surprised to find this new-to-me San Diego brewery in Portland, since I've been going down to SD every year for decades, but I will have to seek out something else from them next trip. This one has what seems to be old fashioned caramel malt, which I really like and rarely taste any more except in some of the old California standbys. The hops are largely citrus, and up to the Citra Starburst name, but with a little dankness too to keep things interesting. An all round nice IPA that I would like to see again.

my first from this operation, clean and delicious, hides its strength well, and is a pretty well rounded expression of citra, not a hop i generally love in a single hop context or close to it, but its at its best in this, love how light it is, golden and bright, super clear, average white head on it, high carbonation makes it sparkle, looks real light for being a double ipa, and the malt in nose and taste is also very simple and minimal, pale two row barley could be about it, nothing richer or sweeter, nothing to heavy it, and its fermented to darn near dry, so this is all about the hops, perhaps its fermented a little cooler too, its crisp and tight for the style, impressive on the quality side. the hops smell like meyer lemons, lemongrass, and clementine, taste a little more tropical with canned pineapple and fruit cocktail characteristics, somewhat oily on the palate and with middle of the road bitterness for a west coast double, no bite at the end but it still does hit like ipa. i like how summery and sunny and easy this is for the style, i like how fresh it is, and how the citra gives a bit more than it often does, trace pineapple, coconut, and green melon as well. neutral and complete ferment, good water chemistry, some mild grass and elderflower as it warms, crazy drinkable for what it is, dangerous. very high quality, i will be on the lookout for more of their beers, quite impressive this one! ideal for warm weather drinking.

Tasted again and it's really quite decent. The bitterness seems moderated and it has enough malty taste and sweetness to make it pleasantly drinkable. Nice sharp and sudsy mouthfeel.
All Citra hops, apparently. Pours a clear golden yellow with plenty of foam in the Duvel nonic. Sharp and moderately spritzy on the tongue. Aroma of lemon and lime peel. Slightly sweet, but more on the acidic side and dry in the finish. Malty tasting, however. Clean lime and pine flavors. Moderate but lingering bitter aftertaste. Overall, quite a pleasant big hoppy brew. From the 16 oz can purchased at Bine & Vine. No date.
