i like an amber with a little kick, the sort of post fat tire evolution of the style, makes it modern just enough to appeal to a hoppy beer drinker, but in this instance not alienate the red drinker, so well done on the hop selection and proportions. the beer is light as ambers go, neither too much body or too much residual sugar, some pleasing malt layers still though, toasted and kilned and on the drier side to me, short of nutty but earthy in a good way, autumnal but lighter than many overall, which lets a little bit of hops go a long way, and this doesnt come anywhere near scaring an india red type, there just isnt much more than balancing bitterness here. some light pine and orange peel in the nose from the hops, a little woodsy in the flavor on the finish, slightly oily in feel, but all these aspects enhance rather than obscure the base beer. its smooth to drink, remains balanced but definitely sits on the hoppier end of the style spectrum, and seems to want a food context even though i didnt have time for a pizza when i was in. all of their beers were pretty solid, nothing radical, but well executed in my experience...
