a clear ipa to run with their rye based hazy they had on when i was in, a little malty for what is trendy in the style these days, but not overly old school either, not sweet or amber colored or anything, very fresh to me, well refined, if a little basic as they go. its got a deep brassy tone to it, good clarity and high shine, with an average white head on top and some rising carbonation. it smells like fresh cut pine, woodsy and herbal, with some sticky sappy resinous character and not a ton of bitterness for being kind of intense up front, light orange and pineapple notes to me too, all real fresh. the taste is similar, a little more grain here, slightly toasted, a honey layer to it, and the hops come in early, pine and gin forward to me, a little bitter citrus, pretty familiar but nicely proportioned. the carbonation is good, the ferment is absolutely clean, better here than in some of their other beers, and i like the medium body this has, good aftertaste too. pleasant ipa overall, pretty drinkable, basic but tidy, well done from an execution standpoint and probably agreeable to anyone who likes hoppy beer at all...
