Sudwerkstatt GmbH “Crazy Berry Weiss”
330ml brown glass bottle coded “mindestens haltbar bis Ende: 2/22 L1”. Sampled 21.09.21
Look: Cloudy pink-ruby colored body beneath a full head of dense light-pink foam. The head retention is good to very good for a sour beer but there’s next to no lacing left behind.
Smell: Mineralish with a little bit of berry - not exactly “Crazy Berry Weiss”, but OK.
Taste: Non-specific berry… mainly like red raspberry but also like something else that I can’t quite put my finger on. It’s tart and sweetish at the same time. Its low level bitterness is almost imperceptible. It finishes acidic and dry, and short-lingering with quick passing berries outlasted by fading minerals.
Feel: Medium-light in body, and crisp and acidic.
Overall: As pointed out already, this is hardly a “Crazy Berry Weiss”, but more of your standard raspberry wheat with an added sour component. It’s interesting and refreshing.
