Kleines Brauhaus Bacchubräu "Rheingold Sporty"
€2,80/,3L vom fass at the brewery on 25.09.21
Notes: "Our fresh, light summer beer brewed the Kölsch-style. Full, malty taste with reduced alcohol content. Top-fermented. 4.0% vol."
Look: Hazy deep amber in color beneath a short head of white foam. Very good head retention and lacing.
Smell: Fruity with apple/pear over dull malt with some herbs and light spiciness.
Taste: The malt is basic, golden & bready, a little dull, and slightly acidic. The apple-like fruitiness somes through, and it's balanced by a moderate bitterness. Short lingering with a dampened bitterness.
Feel: Medium bodied and crisp.
Overall: Had it not been labeled as a Kölsch-style beer this may have scored better but the fact is that it's far too unrefined and blocky. The clarity is somewhat of an issue, but I think the lack of cold conditioning is what really holds it back.
