ROMAN is the original straight bourbon barrel-aged Imperial Russian Stout. Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color stout with a nice dark brown foamy head with good retention and lacing. Aroma of roasted malt with light bitter notes with some bourbon, vanilla and oak notes clearly identifiable. Taste is a mix of roasted malt with some bitter roasted malt notes, some residual sugar with some bourbon notes and light vanilla with oak notes also apparent. Body is about average with good carbonation with some warming alcohol notes. Solid BA imperial stout that does retain some balance.
