Appearance: Poured with thumb's worth of head that produced very low lace and didn't really stick around. The body is a opaque night black, as any good stout should be.
Smell: Dark chocolate dominates the nose, although not like the traditional bitter chocolate. More like someone tried to make a dark chocolate version of liquid nestle quik or brown cow as it has this sweet syrupy note to it that's thankfully not too potent and is backed by a graham note in the backround. Warming helped it's case quite a bit,
Taste: Dark chocolate permeates the beer, but it starts with your more traditional bitter chocolate note that then turns into a more almost syrupy note backed by some graham cracker notes and rounds out with a bit of a bitter coffee touch.
Mouthfeel: The biggest downside is that syrupy note, which I figure is supposed to simulate marshmallow but isn't doing a great job on this front. The transitioning is ok, but there's not a hyper long evolution here. Carbonation could be a bit more potent.
Drinkability: It's thick and heavy like a good stout should be, although a bit cloyingly sweet for my tastes. Settles down fairly well though and really more of a desert beer then anything.
Final Thoughts: Well, the intent here seems to have been to make smores into a beer, and I suppose this is as close as you are going to get to that. The presence of dark vs milk chocolate and it's syrupy notes make it seem more like cookies and cream ice cream dunked with just too much dark chocolate syrup and some graham sprinkled in.
