A Collaboration between Guelph Beer - Royal City, Brothers, Fixed Gear, Sleeman and Wellington.
Guelph.Beer is a local collective including all 5 of Guelph’s brewers: Royal City, Brothers, Fixed Gear, Sleeman, and Wellington. Since 2018 we’ve been working together to nurture and grow Guelph’s exceptional beer culture. Our local brew crew teamed up to create a dry-hopped saison which features a blend of noble and new-world hops, subtle Belgian-style yeast character, and a refreshing dry finish.

Appearance: Poured with a finger and a half of head the retained exceptionally well and produced loads of lacing. The body is a slightly hazy gold boasting ample carbonation. That it lacks haze, but also isn't crystal clear is the only thing keeping it from a perfect here.
Smell: Grapefruit hops dominate the nose with notes of earth, orange zest and straw. Potency was good from the get go and it improved ever so slightly with warming.
Taste: As advertised. It starts with an orange and straw start that turns more to dry grapefruit and sandy hops ending. A bit of a short journey, but a good one.
Mouthfeel: Carbonation is exceptionally well done, and it has a great mixed aftertaste that the hops take a bit of the front seat on and build a bit of clingy bitterness on. Great transitioning though.
Drinkability: Light bodied, but it doesn't settle down as well as I would like as the mix of the high carbonation and bitterness isn't treating my stomach as well as it should. The dryness however isn't overplayed which makes for a solid offering.
Final Thoughts: Given this beer apparently was a collab between 5 different brewers in Guelph, they really did a good job of smoothing out the wrinkles and making a beer I could see having a lot of broad appeal. I think the dry-hop portion of this beer is a big high, but I can't really hold that against it too much. Great offering is a mixed bag of a mix pack that it came with.
