473 mL can from the LCBO; one of three new brews in Wellington's Vol 10 mixed pack. Dated Mar 18 2021 and served slightly chilled.
Pours a hazy, turbid goldenrod colour, topped with nearly an inch of smooth, foamy white head that lasts for the better part of five minutes. It totally coats the glass with a layer of sticky lace as it's reduced to a frothy collar and filmy cap - looks fantastic in the glass. Floral hops and pine needles on the nose, with notes of white grapefruit, lemon, passion fruit and stone fruit also coming through. Good show so far.
The flavour follows after the aroma - grassy, floral hops and citrus at the forefront, including lemon and grapefruit. Hints of peach, berry, pear, banana and tropical fruit join the fray by mid-sip, finishing with more floral, piney hop bitterness and pithy citrus that lingers on into the aftertaste. Medium-full in body, with low carbonation levels that weakly agitate the surface of the palate, resulting in a smooth, fluffy, satisfying mouthfeel that makes this 7% hazy IPA far more drinkable than it probably should be - the alcohol is very well hidden.
Final Grade: 3.96, a B+. All Weather Is Passing is certainly one of Wellington's best IPAs to date, with its array of Citra/Simcoe/Amarillo hop and kveik yeast scents & flavours combining (Voltron-style) to dazzle the taste buds quite effectively. I'd put this at least on par with their Upside IPA, and it compares well with other hazy Ontario IPAs on the market these days. It's the highlight of this mixed pack IMO, though the Pinwheel Pineapple Gose and Phantom Time pale ale are also worth a try. I also appreciate the name: a reassuring folk wisdom, very apropos for the hard times we've all endured over the past year or so.
