Appearance: It has a nice pale yellow/golden colour to it. It has a nice white head that dies down fast and has verry little lacing.

Smell: The aromas definitly give out hints of grainy/bready and wheat malts with some grassy hops.

Taste: Like the aromas, it has a sweet wheat, grainy and bready malt character to it with a slight grassy bitterness.

Mouthfeel: It has a high carbonation with an overall thin body.

Drinkability: It's a very smooth drinkable beer accompanied with bland flavours and aromas. Refreshing on a hot summer day.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

From a 473 ml can, part of a sampler 4-pack. Pours out a bright hazed deep straw hue, two fingers of tight rocky white head that slowly settles.

Clean, almost musty dry aroma, faint cereal sweetness in the background.

Sweet, grainy malt up front in the flavour, a bit of veg, faint note of cream corn, if I didn't know any better I'd say this is adjunct laden. Things don't get better moving on to the finish, but continue to slide quality-wise. Has an off-putting apple-juice like character on the finish, then dries out to a musty, dusty aftertaste.

Mouthfeel is light-bodied, slick texture although has a bit of a chemical burn to it, low carbonation.

Not impressive, I would have assumed this was a defective sample if I didn't go back and check the average ratings for it. This is one to pass by, I had enough after a few sips, and although it wasn't a sink pour, I didn't finish the glass with any relish or any real enjoyment. Tastes adjunct-laden with a chemical presence, and like a macro produced product.

This beer pours a hazy medium golden straw colour, with some perpetually rising bubbles, and two fingers of foamy off-white head, which leaves a low, bleeding ring of lace around the glass as it hastily settles. It smells of sweet grainy, almost sourdough-esque malt, generic fruit, and grassy, weedy hops. The taste is more bready, pastry-like malt, with very little wheatiness, some tired orchard fruit pith, and mild earthy, weedy hops. The carbonation is quite soft, the body a surprising low-to-middle weight, a wee bit edgy, but adequately smooth. It finishes off-dry, the graininess of the malt exhibiting a more wheaty profile, and the earthy hops still quite sedate.

For a self-proclaimed 'Light Beer', this comes off none too shabbily. It does, unfortunately, fall into that netherworld category that is the American Pale Wheat Ale - no zingy fruit, no zesty spice, just a perfunctory display of wheat grain incarnate, which turns out to be just good enough.

 

 

got this from the discovery pack. was pleasantly surprised with the crazy canuck out of there, but looking at the scores of this one is bringing me down.

poured in a duvel tulip. pale yellow with a slightly cloudiness. fizzy bubbly white head. soapy bubbles popping on head continuously.

aroma is hard to pull. smells watery if that is possible. some zest in the nose with a hint of malt and some sweetness present.

carbonation is almost acidic. that is all i taste in this beer. finishes metallic with an acid burn all the way down the throat.

the taste isnt terrible what little of it there is but the mouthfeel and overall presence of this drink is most unwelcoming.

A - a pale yellow with a one finger head and a little lacing

S - a pale wheat malt and some fruit

T - sour apple with a metallic twang, a hint of wheat - sweet - and something I can not put my finger on but is certainly off putting

M - light body with some carbonation, sour, dry, and somewhat bitter

O - by far the worst offering from Wellington - it is unbalanced, uninteresting and simply disappointing

A - Pours a pale straw colour, finger of head with little retention or lacing.

S - Grassy hops and wheat undertones with a bready finish.

T - Much like the scent with the grassy hops dominating off the top, the sweeter wheat following and the bready malts lingering on the palette.

M - A tad over carbonated and a bit prickly going down.

O - A tasty pale wheat ale, but nothing that will blow your mind. Easing drinking for a hot summer day, but the mouthfeel is a bit of a turnoff.

Pours a completely clear golden yellow, atop which sits one finger of bone white head. Retention is poor; it is gone within a minute leaving behind a thin cap and modest collar. Smell is pretty faint and not at all interesting - pale malts and apples. Not even much wheat.

The taste is pretty similar, actually. Slightly tart apples, pale malts and a bit of sweetness. No hop character, and more strangely for the style, very little wheat flavour. Thin and watery mouthfeel with relatively high carbonation. A little stickiness in the mouth afterward. Easy to throw back despite the bland taste.

Inspecting this can more closely, in addition to a wheat ale it calls itself a "Light Beer" and that it most certainly is. It is hard to distinguish from many light lagers, with only a slight fruity flavour to give away the fact that it is an ale. They may have succeeded at making a hybrid between light beer and wheat ale, but this just has all of the satisfaction of the former with none of the (relatively speaking) interesting flavours of the latter. Worth a try if you're in the market for light beers, but pretty disappointing if you expect anything else.
