Lay back and ride a wave with this juicy IPA brewed with guava and coconut! Dry-hopped with loads of Sabro hops this juicy treat has notes of tangerine, pithy grapefruit, and loads of fresh guava with a satisfying hint of coconut on the finish. Just layback and carve that wave!

473 mL can from the LCBO; dated May 16 2022 and served slightly chilled. The usual disclaimer applies: I don't care for coconut all that much, but I'll try to be neutral.
Pours a foggy, sandy sediment-laden golden-yellow colour, generating one finger of creamy, foamy white head that dissipates within two or three minutes. A tight, quarter-inch band of even lacing is coated onto the glass, with a frothy collar and sudsy cap also remaining - looks fine to me. I'm getting guava on the nose, but the coconut also comes through in a pleasing, authentic manner; there's also hints of wheaty malt, mandarin orange and lemon curd.
Fruity and pleasant at the forefront - hints of apricot, orange, guava, and maybe even a hint of banana, built atop a base of wheaty, bready malts and oat sweetness. And then... coconut for days. I mean, it tastes mostly like real coconut meat, but I'm still getting that suntan lotion vibe on the back end. Finishes with floral hops and mintiness, with lingering coconut and tropical fruitiness in the aftertaste. Medium in body, with relatively low carbonation that gently rolls across the tongue, resulting in a silky-smooth mouthfeel that I found to be the highlight of this beer. Good drinkability, assuming you like coconut more than I do.
Final Grade: 3.85, a B+. Layback starts off being moderately interesting, but once that wave of coconut lands, it just loses me entirely. That being said, if it weren't for that one, admittedly overpowering aspect, I still think this would be a pretty good IPA (and thus, taking my bias into account, is deserving of a good grade). My advice would be to either tone down the coconut, or consider a hop strain besides Sabro (which just adds coconut on top of coconut). A unique brew, worth trying at least once.

Pours a light gold colour with a thick fluffy head. Coconut overload on the smell (not necessarily a bad thing). Tropical fruit and coconut on the taste, but not overdone. Just enough to be pleasant. Hoppy notes are also pleasant. Nicely carbonated

I bought a can at the LCBO in Ontario Canada 473ml at 5.5%.
Layback hang in there IPA with Guava and coconut
Poured into glass with 1 to 2 finger head you can smell the coconut and the taste as well smooth creamy leaving a lace as you drink it.
Taste is coconut with a low bitterness level
Easy and enjoyable to drink especially on a hot summer day.
I am definitely enjoying this beer
I'm want to buy it again.
Cheers

473 ml can served cold into a tulip. LCBO purchase for around $4 cdn. Canned May 16, 2022.
Appearance- Semi hazy golden colour with two decadent fingers of head. Lots of spotty lacing left behind.
Smell- super juicy and sweet. Lots of coconut and some sweet ripe guava. Not overdone so that sunscreen aroma that shows up with certain coconut beers isn’t there.
Taste- lots of coconut initially, hints of sweetness with guava and then west bitterness. A bit of the coconut does give off a sunscreen like vibe.
Mouthfeel- medium full bodied, kind of reminds me of a milkshake ipa. Creamy with moderate carbonation and very juicy and thick finish.
Overall- honestly better than I expected given the generous use of Sabro hops. Pretty balanced, guava shows up just enough and the coconut while intense isn’t really overplayed. Not likely to be a staple but pretty solid brew.
