Named after the town just north of Hoodsport, this pale lager is unfiltered and unpasteurized. Brewed in the German tradition, it is just malted barley hops, lager yeast, and water. Store and enjoy cold. Easy-going and refreshing, perfect for chilling on the canal.

Poured from 16oz can into a dimpled mug. No date on the can, but I picked this up at the brewery just a few days ago.
Appearance: pale golden hue with a dash of haze and a finger of ivory foam atop.
Smell: good malt aroma with a bit of sweetness and a little bit of a crackery character. There’s a, I don’t know, saturation to it that I like.
Taste: malt is on the sweet side with a yeasty character and a similar crackery note to the aroma. There’s also a floral, almost honey-like character as well, plus a light-to-moderate bitterness. Maybe not a typical helles, but a pretty good beer.
Mouthfeel: medium body with a decent carbonation and creaminess.
Overall: while I wouldn’t necessarily downgrade the flavor for this, there’s something about how the bitterness builds over time that doesn’t entirely work for me. So, not my favorite helles, but not bad.
