Poured into a Celebrator pokal. Pours a medium to dark reddish orange with a one finger pale khaki head with great retention and solid lacing. Aroma of bready malt, raisins and plums; a hint of smoke. Flavor is bready and lightly biscuit malt, molasses, raisins, mild caramel and smoke developing into the finish. Dark fruit, molasses and smoke lingers. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. An interesting bock style that is presented as a mega bock; bigger in ABV than a dopplebock, but no indication that it was processed as an eisbock to get the strength. Although it has a hefty ABV, it drinks pretty much like a dopplebock, with the expected forward bready malt and dark fruit but with a welcome light smokiness, presumably from a little smoked malt in the brew. I can't find anything about this bock, it is absent from the the brewery's pages and elsewhere in the connected world. The flavor is a bit mellow and somewhat less intense than a German doppelbock, but the smokiness more than redeemed the flavor for me. I like this quite a bit and hope to learn more about it.
