This is sort of an imperial altbier - or as the brewery calls it “Doppelsticke Altbier”. In any event, it is a pleasant beer.
I had this beer while attending the brewery’s first year anniversary this past Saturday. Poured from tap into a tall pilsner glass. Beautiful rich mahogany color with a creamy beige head with excellent curtain lacing. Smooth malty smell, taste and feel. Fruity and woodsy smells and flavors. Earthy, dried sweet cherries, and nutty notes. Nice bitter finish. This beer was worth the trip!
