Poured from 330mL Belgian-style bottle into my Belvárosi sörfesztivál tulip. Best by 7/11/25.
Appearance: dark red-amber hue with some haze and a finger of frothy pink foam atop, which didn’t stick around super long. Rich color!
Smell: moderately sweet aroma with a fruity scent, as you would expect, but I get more purple grape juice from it than I do cherry. There is some “black cherry” type aroma in there, too, though, which I really like.
Taste: a nice combination of sweet and tart that gives this beer a candylike character. It’s not the classic sweet-cherry flavor that we’re used to in the US, but something darker, richer, and more sour. I really like the flavor, though that said, the sweetening is rather a lot here.
Mouthfeel: medium body with a decent carbonation and creaminess.
Overall: full disclosure, I’m a sucker for cherry beers. This is definitely one of the candylike ones, although at least it’s not artificially sweetened. Is this the best one out there? No. But I am enjoying it a great deal!
