From a 4-pack picked up at the source in Missoula, MT
16oz can poured into a Baerlic Belgian-style tulip

P pours black w/ a 1f khaki head; looks good; med-quick recession
N med nose of roast, light chocolate, and a bit of coffee; pleasant
T a light chocolate forward over roasted malt gives way to coffee-like notes, char, and some earthy/woodsy bitterness/tanginess in the finish; hints of dark fruit and grainy character as well
Mf light-med bodied w/ med carb; fairly smooth; finish is on the coating side
O not a bad porter; was hoping to like it just a bit more (needed just a touch more sweetness to balance out the char/earthiness for me), but decent in its own right

Poured at fridge temp. Pours black with minimal head. The nose is tobacco, roasted malts, dark fruit, dark chocolate, dark bread, and a nice nutty note.

The taste is super smooth. Slightly bitter, but also full of malty goodness. Nutty, coffee grounds, roasted malts, charred wood, dark chocolate, cherries, and a slight hoppy bitterness. Quite dry. Bitter aftertaste.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied. Great porter!

Many thx to muchloveforhops3 for this can!

A - Pitch black pour with a dense, creamy caramel colored lacing ring.

S - Dark chocolate roast, char, and some coffee-like aromatic quality.

T - Chocolate roast, chocolate char, and a lingering char bitterness on the backside.

M - Medium body with some thinness around the edges.

O - Nice flavor but a tad thin. Still, a very solid Porter!

Sampling a cellar temp 16 oz can poured into my .5L dimple mug. No date stamp on can or label.
the beer pours a clear cola brown color. There is some light that passes through on the edges of my glass. A creamy khaki colored dense creamy head of 1cm foams up and fades to a sturdy surface covering. There is some scattered lattice that forms when I swirl the glass or take a sip.
The aroma on this beer is very roasty malt and some cocoa powder. I also get a little bit of grassy hop note in the background. This is not a sweet smelling beer, I like it!
The first sip reveals a medium body with smooth texture with very fine and tingly carbonation. Beer drinks very easy on physical traits.
FLavor is on point with nose advertisements. I get roasted malts and dark cocoa powder, not a lot of depth beyond that. There is some black tea crisp bite on the finish which I attribute to hops, not any hints of booze throughout this beer.
I am enjoying this classic porter from Montana, glad to have tried it!
