500ml bottle picked up at Big Head's bottle shop in Missoula, MT in February 2024; English barleywine aged 20 months in rye whiskey barrels
Poured into a La Fin du Monde tulip

P pours a chestnut color w/ a surprising amount of clarity; burgundy hues; tiny white cap w/ a nearly instant recession
N med-bold blend of toffee, slightly soured fruit, barrel, and whiskey; excellent
T spiced bread combines w/ toffee, barrel, and dark fruit, w/ a warming whiskey finish; delightful
Mf light-med bodied w/ med to med-high carb; maybe a touch more carb than necessary, but fitting for the profile in this case
O an aromatic and delicious BA barleywine ; dangerously drinkable as well; happy to have tried it!

Poured at fridge temp. Pours a murky orange/brown with minimal head. The nose is toffee, orange, lemon, malts, whiskey, and some oak. Some other fruits in there as well.

The taste is really nice. It's sweet, but not too sweet. Caramel candy, brown sugar, prunes, raisins, slightly bitter wood, slight almonds, and a hint of honey. The whiskey provides a nice little bite here as well.

The mouthfeel is fairly light bodied. The aftertaste is a bit boozy with some citrus fruit and caramel. Overall, a very good barleywine.

Pours a murky brown, almost iced-tea-like appearance. Head is minimal, comes late, shows up for a brief moment before turning to a white ring of bubbles. The look at the ring stage coupled with the color is definitely iced-tea. Nose is caramel, toffee, faint banana, granola, almond. Taste is more muted than the nose... granola, some almond, hints of caramel, some earthy bitterness almost inline with an American barleywine. Can says English-style, from my tasting, this is some hybrid on tasting notes. Mouthfeel is moderately carbonated. Finish is very familiar SN Bigfoot mixed with some toffee sweetness you would likely find with a traditional English BW. Confusing.

Sampling a 16 oz can at cellar temp and poured into snifter. No date stamp that I can see on the can anywhere nor label.
The beer pours a bright copper color and rests only slightly darker in the glass. A fizzy khaki colored head of 1 cm foams up and fades to a sturdy edge layer soon after the pour. Aroma is very fruity with plums and peaches mixing with a good bit of toffee and some whiskey notes. Not super hoppy, unless that is the source of the peaches. Not really fusol booze anywhere either.
First sip reveals a fairly light body with very smooth texture and very fine , gentle carbonation. Beer is a little light for my preference, but the smooth texture and gentle carb are nice.
Flavor is more of the same from the nose. I get toffee and plums again with some brown sugar and the whisky kicks in on each swallow. Not really any hop character here either. The beer is nice flavor and I like the texture, but the thin body is a drawback for me on each sip. Otherwise this could be a great barleywine.

Bottle at share. Clear, copper pour, a few stray bubbles. Sweet malty aroma, caramel. Taste is sweet, toffee, boozy. Sticky finish and latent alcohol warmth
