16oz can picked up from the source in Missoula, MT
Poured into a Sunriver Brewing Belgian-style tulip

P deep mahogany/black w/ a tiny khaki cap; quick recession
N soft-med nose of primarily sweet nuttiness and bourbon; pleasant
T general nuttiness, coconut, bourbon, hints of dark fruit, and earthiness; maybe a touch of leather; cocoa in the background; punctuated by barrel char; very nice; sweet and sharp bourbon notes linger
Mf light-med bodied; soft carb (a bit on the flat side)
O drinks really well for 11%; a pretty solid barrel aged imperial stout; the mouthfeel could use some touching up imo, but diggable nonetheless

Poured at fridge temp. Pours black with almost no head. Doesn't look super thick. The nose is chocolate, coconut, vanilla, nuts, barrel, and a bit of roasted malts. Quite smooth.

The taste is really nice. Malty. Roasted malts, black licorice, dark chocolate, vanilla, coconut, hazelnut. The barrel is interesting. I almost get a port note, but it's whiskey. Definitely a mix of sweet fruit and oaky bitterness. Maybe a touch of tobacco in there as well.

The mouthfeel is medium bodied and the aftertaste leans towards the bitter side. Great stout overall.

Sampling a cellar temp 16 oz can poured into a snifter. No date stamp on the can. The beer pours a rich cola brown into my glass and rests slightly darker. There is a dense creamy beige head of 1 cm that fades to a thin edge layer that maintains throughout the sampling.
Aroma is some milk chocolate and some molasses and whisky notes with maybe a little vanilla. no hop character and not boozy at all.
First sip reveals a medium body and gentle spacious carbonation, smooth texture and pretty easy to drink physical traits. I dont get any warming from this higher octane brew.
Flavor is chocolate and whiskey with some vanilla mixed in. I dont get any of the coconut mentioned on label. Im searching for hazelnut too, and only getting a hint on the swallow of nutty note. Never any hops and not boozy either.
Pretty easy drinking imperial stout, that I wish delivered more on the hazelnut and coconut from the label. Still an enjoyable beer.

T - Chocolate char, Whiskey / Bourbon, vanilla, coconut, hazelnut, and finishes on the boozier side.

M - Medium body with pronounced warming on the way down.

O - This is worth checking out.
